Senior Integration Project
Desiring and Restoring
Lien Phuong, April 2013
Mixed Media: Fabric, craft ink, acrylic, sharpie, thread, tape,
fabric glue, glue gun, butcher paper, straight pins
We put value in places because we all originate from somewhere: the womb, childhood home, schools, or other important groups that identify our place; finding commonality of place gives us a sense of belonging. At the foundation of these building blocks lies a desire to be known and deeply loved. We search for this desire in multiple things; however, this longing can never be fully satisfied until the final day when creation will be restored and healed in Christ, better than it first began. The process of sewing fabric pieces together used to create this multicolored dress represents, for me, the idea of a healing community. The contrast of a white veil and colored dress symbolizes my deep desire for restoration of the present age that ultimately belongs to our King.
